Make sure the cartridge is screwed in straight and is fully screwed in so it is firmly seated. You can tell if it is screwed in as you can barely see any of the thread and it is firm and straight. If you are worried at all unscrew the cartridge and rescrew it back in. It won’t go off with you taking the cartridge in and out as the keyball needs to be pulled out to puncture the cartridge. Page 22 and 25 (Manual)
Please use the saddle strap provided or a strong attachment to the saddle as you don’t want the attachment breaking before the vest goes off.
If you have been unfortunate enough to inflate the vest and had to change the cartridge you will have used the tool kit- A setting bolt and Allan key. Make sure you remove the setting bolt after used otherwise the vest will not activate pg 24 (manual)
Check the lanyard has a loop at the base so it can be threaded through the saddle strap.
The lanyard isn’t too long? You shouldn’t be able to get off without it going off! Everyone likes a different length but the shorter the better. You need to be able to move around in the saddle and stretch it for those big awkward jumps but not be able to touch the ground. It only takes 0.15sec once the keyball is pulled out, to inflate but that doesn’t mean you should have a really long lanyard.
All your tags are velcroed or buttoned down.
If you are at all worried or your vest hasn’t been inflated for over a year inflate your vest to check it.
If it has mud or dirt on it. Use a damp cloth and a nailbrush and clean it. Don’t submerge in water!
Check all stitching if you have had a fall to see it hasn’t been weakened.
